Energy & Electrical Engineering

This project is part of an energy transition initiative aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving the sustainability of water supply systems. It involves the design, supply and installation of photovoltaic self-consumption production units (UPAC) within the operational infrastructure of two public water distribution companies:

• Àguas de Santo Antão — Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde
• Àguas de São Nicolau — São Nicolau Island, Cape Verde

Project Objectives:
• Cover all or part of the energy needs of pumping, treatment and distribution stations using clean, renewable solar energy;
• Reduce operating costs related to electricity consumption at the facilities;
• Improve energy resilience of drinking water supply systems in island contexts with limited conventional energy supply;
• Contribute to national sustainable development and decarbonisation goals in the water sector.
